Water Management Training Institute (WMTI): Empowering Stakeholders and Accomplishing Training Milestones in Water Management:

The Water Management Training Institute (WMTI) has played a crucial role in providing comprehensive training in water management to a diverse range of participants over the past three decades. As the sole training facility in the country exclusively dedicated to meeting the training needs of all stakeholders in the field of water management, WMTI has successfully trained approximately 52,500 personnel. The training courses offered by WMTI have varied in duration, ranging from three days to three months, ensuring flexibility and catering to different requirements. Here are the key highlights of the training provided by WMTI:

  • On Farm Water Management Personnel: A significant number of participants, totaling 17,900, belonging to various roles and positions within the field of on-farm water management have undergone training at WMTI. This category includes administrative and supervisory officers, field officers, agricultural officers, district government staff, office personnel, tractor operators, and field assistants. The training equips them with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage water resources in agricultural settings.
  • Personnel of Allied Departments & Provinces: WMTI has also extended its training to 3,500 individuals associated with allied departments and provinces. This diverse group comprises agriculture extension staff, inter-provincial on-farm water management staff, and personal from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), scholars from universities and research institutions, foreign delegates, as well as representatives from forestry and veterinary departments. The training offered to these personnel fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and ensures a holistic approach to water management.
  • Members of Water Users Associations (WUAs) and Village Committees: Recognizing the importance of community involvement, WMTI has provided training to 59,600 members of Water Users Associations, Kissan Board members, participants in the Kissan Tarbiati program, and Village Committee members. These individuals play a critical role in local water management practices and decision-making processes. The training empowers them with knowledge of sustainable water use, community engagement, and effective governance, enabling them to actively contribute to their respective communities.
  • OFWM Officers: Sixteen On Farm Water Management (OFWM) officers have undergone mandatory training at WMTI to qualify for promotion to the BS-19 rank. This training ensures that the officers possess the required expertise, leadership skills, and technical knowledge to undertake higher-level responsibilities in water management. By investing in the professional development of these officers, WMTI contributes to the capacity building and advancement of the water management sector.
